Most homes would have pushed the master upstairs with everyone else. Here, it stays at the front on its own, just off the entry, a walk-in robe and ensuite tucked away from the rest of the household. Keep walking straight in and the Family and Dining room opens up, the kitchen sitting centre-left. On the kitchen’s front side, a powder room sits between the kitchen and the laundry, which holds its own understair cupboard for the things that don’t need to be on permanent display.
Upstairs, three further bedrooms and a second living space give the kids somewhere that’s entirely their own, a floor nobody needs to referee. A family bathroom holds a separate WC with its own door inside it, so the shared bathroom never becomes a queue.
The block gave us a width. We gave it a lifestyle.
